Chat Widget

A Twitch chat overlay you can shape however you like, then drop into OBS as a browser source. It reads your chat directly, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install. Your settings live in the URL.

Want a custom one? Contact me on Twitch.

Add to OBS
One file with everything inside. Works even if this site is offline.

Enter your Twitch channel below, or switch on Test mode to preview with invented messages.

How to add it in OBS

Using the URL

  1. Sources → +Browser.
  2. Paste the URL above.
  3. Width 460, height to taste (600 is a good start).

Using the downloaded file

  1. Save the .html anywhere you like.
  2. Add a Browser source and tick Local file.
  3. Browse to the file. Same size advice as above.

Tick Shutdown source when not visible either way to save resources.

Chat only appears while someone is actually typing in that channel. A quiet or offline channel shows nothing, which is normal.

Behaviour

Streams invented messages instead of connecting to Twitch, so you can position and style the overlay in OBS when chat is quiet. Turn it off before going live.

Hide messages containing

Hide after 0 keeps messages until they scroll off. Any other value fades each message that many seconds after it arrives, which suits a busy chat sitting over gameplay. Trim at 0 leaves long messages intact.
